Ruth Ellen Gruber – dziennikarka, pisarka, fotograf, znawczyni problematyki Europy Środkowowschodniej. Urodziła się w Filadelfii, USA. Po studiach zamieszkała na stałe w Europie.
Była korespondentem United Press International w Rzymie, Brukseli, Londynie, Belgradzie, Warszawie i Wiedniu. Autorka książek: Jewish Heritage Travel: A Guide To East-Central Europe (1992/1999), Upon The Doorposts Of Thy House: Jewish Life In East-Central Europe, Yesterday And Today (1994), Virtually Jewish: Reinventing Jewish Culture in Europe (2002; wyd. polskie – Odrodzenie kultury żydowskiej w Europie, Pogranicze 2004).
